We have two Senior Planet Tech Skills classes scheduled for October at the RSVP office, 6501 Watts Rd, Madison. All of the classes require registration since the class size is limited to just ten participants. There are two different registration forms for these two classes.
October 17, 9:45-12:15. The class begins with a lecture/discussion about MyChart followed by a hands-on workshop about RX Drug Resources Online. Register using this online form. We will have Windows laptops you can use, and you’re welcome to bring your own smartphones and laptops.

Come learn about this electronic health-record portal that works both in a web browser and app. We’ll go over how MyChart can help you keep all your health information in one place, communicate with your providers, and have a virtual visit. You’ll also learn about the portal’s privacy and security features.
The second hour will be a hands-on workshop exploring prescription drug resources available online. The internet offers many prescription drug resources, if you know where to look! During this hands-on session, you’ll learn to find reliable information about drugs on MedlinePlus. You’ll also use websites for comparing prices at different pharmacies and searching for coupons.
October 24, 9:45-12:15. The class begins with a lecture and discussion Introduction to AI followed by a hands-on workshop on Using Google Gemini app. Register using this online form. We will have Windows laptops you can use, and you’re welcome to bring your own smartphones and laptops.
Are you curious about AI? Do you want to know more about ChatGPT? This lecture will introduce some of the basic ideas around artificial intelligence. We’ll talk about how AI is being used today, what its current limitations are, and how it will shape the future!
The second hour will be a hands-on workshop on using the Google Gemini app. We’ll go over tips for writing effective questions, or «prompts,» as well as different use cases, from drafting emails to travel planning. We’ll also practice using the app’s voice features, including Gemini Live. Finally, we’ll explore the privacy settings and discuss best practices to ensure you can use the app safely and confidently. Bring your smartphone and/or laptop to practice on, and we’ll have Windows laptops you can use.
We will begin at 9:45 with coffee/tea and donuts, and class will begin promptly at 10:00. We’ll finish at 12:15 and have a light lunch and a chance to talk more with each other and the Senior Planet Trainers. Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot behind the building. The RSVP office is on the second floor. Take the elevator to the second floor then turn right and go to the end of the hallway. You can also take the stairs then take a left and go to the end of the hallway.
