Our next Senior Planet technology skills class for older adults will be July 25. The topic will be information privacy. You must register to attend since the class sizes are limited to ten participants per class.
We will begin at 9:45 with coffee/tea and donuts. And class will begin promptly at 10:00. The first hour of the class will cover the ins and outs of how to protect your personal information online. We’ll cover tips for staying safe in cyberspace, like safe browsing, how to recognize online scams, and when it’s OK — or not — to share your personal information online.
The second hour of the class will be a hands-on workshop. With so much to explore online, it’s important to keep in mind some basic precautions that everyone can take to safeguard the privacy of their online activities. In this workshop, we’ll learn about the built-in privacy features of the Safari app and the Chrome browser. We’ll also learn about the privacy settings for iPhones and Android phones. We’ll also explore Safari’s Private mode and Chrome’s Incognito mode and look at how to manage app permissions and tracking on iPhones and Android phones.
We’ll finish at 12:15 and have a light lunch and a chance to talk more with the Senior Planet Trainers.
To attend participants must register using this online form. Class will be held at the RSVP office, 6501 Raymond Rd Suite 250, Madison. Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot behind the building. The RSVP office is on the second floor, come up the stairs then go left to the end of the hallway.
