Senior Planet Tech Skills Class on SmartPhones and Privacy August 22

Senior Planet Tech Skills Classes at RSVP of Dane County

Our next Senior Planet tech skills class will be August 22 and will consist of two hands-on workshops to help you get to know your Android smartphone and to learn about the privacy settings for Android phones. You must register to attend since the class sizes are limited to ten participants per class. Please use this online registration form.

We will begin at 9:45 with coffee/tea and donuts, and class will begin promptly at 10:00. During the first hour of this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore some of the common features of smartphones. You’ll learn ways to interact with the touch screen, how to access important controls, and how to search for specific settings. We’ll also cover some tips and best practices for securing and maintaining your device.

It’s important to keep in mind some basic precautions that everyone can take to safeguard the privacy of their online activities. In the second half of the class, we’ll again be in hands-on mode learning to manage privacy settings on your Android smartphone or tablet and the Chrome browser. We’ll explore Chrome’s Incognito mode and look at how to manage app permissions and tracking on an Android device.

We’ll finish at 12:15 and have a light lunch and a chance to talk more with the Senior Planet Trainers.

To attend participants must register using this online form. Class will be held at the RSVP office, 6501 Raymond Rd Suite 250, Madison. Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot behind the building. The RSVP office is on the second floor, come up the stairs then go left to the end of the hallway.
