Most of us have used Zoom to attend a meeting, but do you really know how to use this amazing tool? Do you know how to organize and host meetings with Zoom?
In the first hour of this January 23 in-person class, we will go over how to use Zoom to chat with friends & family, to take virtual classes with Senior Planet, and to participate in virtual meetings. You’ll learn about many useful Zoom features, no matter whether you’re connecting with an iOS, Android, or Windows device. The class will also go over security considerations and give tips on how to look your best during a video chat.
The 2nd hour of the class will be a hands-on workshop to learn how to create, host and manage Zoom calls and meetings. We’ll cover the most commonly used Zoom meeting controls, and you can practice using them on your smartphone and laptop. We’ll review how to admit participants to meetings, mute and unmute participants, request that participants turn on their video, rename participants, transfer files, share screens, and record and transcribe meetings. Whether you’ve already hosted Zoom meetings, or you’re brand new to it, come practice and build your confidence and skills! If you don’t have a Zoom account yet, please try to set up one (they’re free!), or we can help you set up one in the workshop.
To register for the class, please use this online form. We are limited to 10 per class, so please only register if you are very certain you can attend. Class will be held at the RSVP office, 6501 Watts Road, Suite 250, Madison. We will begin at 9:45 with coffee/tea and donuts, and class will start promptly at 10:00. We will finish with a light lunch at 12:15 and a chance to talk more with each other and the Senior Planet Trainers.
Parking is available on the street and in the parking lot behind the building. The RSVP office is on the second floor. Take the elevator to the second floor, then turn right and go to the end of the hallway. You can also take the stairs, then take a left and go to the end of the hallway. You’re welcome to bring your smartphone and laptop to use in the workshop. And we will have Windows laptops you can borrow.
