Registration for our July 18 FREE in-person Senior Planet tech skills class for older adults is open. You must register to attend since only 10 seats are available. The class will be from 9:45 AM to 12:15 PM at the RSVP offices located at 6501 Watts Road, Suite 250, Madison. This session will focus on cloud storage. You can register by clicking HERE.
In the first segment of the class, you’ll learn the basics of cloud storage — a technology that lets you store documents, images, and other media files remotely while giving you greater accessibility, reliability, and protection for your important data. We’ll discuss what it is, why it’s the future of data storage, and demonstrate a few of the most popular services currently available to consumers.
The second segment will be a practical workshop using Google Drive. If you have a Gmail address, you have access to free cloud storage through Google Drive! Drive acts like a virtual hard drive where you can store many types of files and access them from any device with an internet connection. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create and upload folders to Drive and organize your files within folders. We’ll also go over sharing folders with others. There is one prerequisite: you must have a Gmail address and be somewhat comfortable navigating the internet. Bring your Gmail username and password and be ready to sign in during the workshop. If you don’t have a Gmail account, set one up for at least this class.
Space is limited to just 10 participants per class, so please register only if you are very certain you will attend. When registrants do not show up, it prevents someone else from attending and benefiting from the class. We will have coffee, tea, and donuts starting at 9:45 AM, with the class commencing promptly at 10:00 AM. A light lunch will be served at 12:15 PM. You can register by clicking HERE.
