Our December 12 in-person Senior Planet tech skills class will help you to learn all about anti-virus and malware removal programs, and we’ll have a hands-on workshop about getting more out of your Internet browser by adding extensions/add-ons. We will begin at 9:45 with coffee/tea and donuts, and class will begin promptly at 10:00. We will finish with a light lunch at 12:15 and a chance to talk more with each other and the Senior Planet Trainers.
Did you know that viruses are only one type of malware that can harm your computer? In the first hour, we’ll go over different types of malware and how they work. We’ll also introduce some anti-virus programs and malware remover software and go over how these tools can be used to prevent and get rid of malware infections. Attend this lecture to learn how to keep your device safe!
In the second hour we’ll go hands-on to learn about ways to get more out of your browser by installing browser extensions, also called add-ons. We’ll talk about what browser extensions are, how they work, and how to find and install trustworthy ones. You’ll get hands-on experience with popular extensions that block ads and popups, save passwords, track prices, clip coupons, and more. We’ll walk through live demos and practice key safety tips, like how to manage permissions.
To attend, please register using this online form. Bring your smartphone and/or your laptop, or you can borrow one of our Windows 11 laptops.
