RSVP is expanding our Foster Grandparent program, a unique volunteer opportunity for low-income seniors who enjoy working with children in our schools. Foster Grandparents volunteer a minimum of five hours a week in a Madison elementary school or through Reach Dane Head Start. They might read to a child or help them with an assignment. Children thrive on individual attention. The consistent, caring attention of a Foster Grandparent can make a real difference in a child’s day.
Foster Grandparents receive a tax-free stipend to help defray any cost of volunteering and transportation and lunch reimbursement. No experience is needed, just a desire to help children. Training is provided as well as opportunities to share experiences with other Foster Grandparents. To qualify for the program, volunteers must be age 55 or older and meet income guidelines.
