Local Triad Events Promote Senior Safety


Local Triads schedule free presentations throughout the year on topics of interest to seniors.  Information on Triad events for 2018 is posted below.  Please contact Mary Stamstad, at 608-441-7897, or .

Verona Triad

 

West Madison Triad

October 10: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Free Car Winterization Check, Firestone-Complete Auto Care, 7105 Mineral Point Road, Madison.  Mechanics, volunteers and police officers will check cars for their safety and if they are ready for winter.  No tickets will be given.  Coffee and treats, goody bags for the first 25 people.

November 28: 10:30 AM, Estate Planning, Attorney Timothy Sugar, Neider & Boucher, S.C., Coventry Village, 7707 N. Brookline Drive, Madison.  The speaker will cover what you need to have in order and who knows where to find important documents.

Cottage Grove Triad

August 28: 10:00 AM, Dogs on Call, Artie Bernig, Taylor Ridge Apartments, 510 Westlawn Drive, Cottage Grove.  Learn how trained dogs can help those who have special needs.

September 25: 10:00 AM, Keeping the Keys, Christine Bergan, AAA Driver Training Program.  An AAA program for senior drivers that teaches older drivers how to extend their safe driving careers.  You will learn how to plan ahead for continued mobility and be aware that driving skills change over time and how to deal with these changes.  Check for location.  441-7897

October 20: 8:00 AM - Noon, Annual Car Winterization, Meineke Car Care, 222 W. Cottage Grove Road, Cottage Grove.  In less than 15 minutes, get your FREE car inspection and be ready for winter.  CG Village Police will check your car's safety equipment, and Meineke mechanics will check to see if your car is ready for cold weather.  No tickets will be given.  Coffee and treats, goody bags for the first 25 people 55 and over.  Reservations required.  Call Georgia:  839-4426.

October 23: 10:00 AM, The Opioid Crisis:  What is Happening and What Should We Know? An overview of why there is a crisis, current laws, and what we can do.  Chief Layber will touch on how it is affecting our community.  Representatives from DeerGrove EMS will also talk about their experiences.  Check for location.  441-7897

November 13: 10:00 AM, Medicare Updates for 2019, Matt Mabie, RPH, Forward Pharmacy.  The speaker will give us any new information about Medicare Part D.  Bring your old medications, including over-the-counter meds, for safe disposal.  Check for location.  441-7897
