Current Volunteer Opportunities

 

Please note: The volunteer opportunities listed here represent a select portion of job assignments currently available through RSVP. Please refer to the Programs area for descriptions of volunteer opportunities which are ongoing.

Special Opportunity

Several volunteers are needed to assist senior citizens at a housing facility to “DeClutter” their apartments. They will sort out things they want to donate and also to recycle. We need volunteers, some with trucks or vans to help them on May 14. This is on Struck and Schroeder Rd. in Madison from 8:30 - 12:30.Volunteers will be asked to take the materials to either the City Recycling Center or to St. Vincent’s on Segoe Road.

Intergenerational Programs

K-12 tutors needed for the 2011-2012 School Year Schools throughout Dane County need tutors for reading, math and homework help.  Training and support will be provided.   If you are caring, flexible, and can commit to at least 1 hour once a week for a semester, contact Nancy Madden, at 608 661-4271.

Driver Services

Volunteer Driver Escorts are needed to provide transportation to seniors throughout Dane County. Home Delivered Meal Drivers are also being sought for outside of Madison. Contact: Gene Kundert, at 608 441-7896.

Community Connections Program

St. Mary's Hospital needs assistance in the Gift Shop. Patient Escorts are also needed to help with wheelchair discharges or to run errands within the hospital. Other opportunities exist as well.

Wisconsin Public Television is looking for volunteers to assist with their membership drives and other fundraising efforts.

Be a greeter at the Madison Children's Museum, or help with the roof-top garden or in the office!

South Madison Coalition for the Elderly has an ongoing need for volunteer Representative Payees to help older adults when there are no family members or friends able to act in this capacity.

Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin is looking for caller assistance (Helpline) volunteers.

The Caregiver Partner Program matches a volunteer with a caregiver of an older adult to help him/her manage particular problems. Training is provided.

Habitat Restore is in need of more help with unloading and sorting items. Cashiers are also needed.
