Group Projects - 2009: 215 Volunteers 50,087 Volunteer Hours

RSVP Group Projects include volunteers who meet as a group on a regular basis and/or work at home to create handcrafted items that are then distributed to agencies throughout Dane County.   Group Project volunteers meet in senior/community centers, housing units, churches, or other facilities.  Members are skilled in knitting, sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and other crafts.  Opportunities for friendship and social interaction are provided.

Volunteers make handmade items that benefit families and individuals in need.  They recycle donated fabric, yarn, stuffing, and supplies to make useable items, including quilts, stuffed toys, mittens, scarves, layettes, sweaters, and other clothing.  Nonprofit organizations, social service agencies, and schools distribute these items to their clients.

There is no charge for these special gifts.  Donations of materials (yarn, fabric, thread, etc.) or funds to purchase supplies are greatly appreciated.
