What is a Foster Grandparent?

Foster Grandparents work with children in Dane County schools, Head Start, and our new site, Children's Hospital, teaching them how to read, write, do math, and be successful learners.  The grandparents function as a consistent, caring role model providing one-on-one adult attention.  Children gain from the wisdom of older adults, and the interaction with the children improves the senior volunteers' quality of life.  Foster Grandparents love volunteering in the schools.  As one volunteer said, "Children are my happiness."
