D.A.N.E.: Citizen Advocacy Workshop and Seminars - 2009: 9 Volunteers 244 Volunteer Hours |
The purpose of these workshops and seminars is to empower older citizens to assume leadership and advocacy roles on committees, commissions and advisory boards in their communities or neighborhoods. Participants learn how local government and institutions operate: who and how to contact the "powers that be"; about issues that affect seniors' lives and about services and resources for seniors. Anyone of any age is welcome to attend. There is a two day workshop annually in the spring followed by seminars on topics of interest.
