Classroom Helpers: Assist the teacher in the classroom by doing variety of tasks once or twice a week. Most often teachers request volunteers to help students with reading, math or a special project. Volunteers may also be asked to sort or shelve books, prepare materials or put up a bulletin board.

Computer Buddies: Computer Buddies is an intergenerational e-mail pen pal program. Older adults with e-mail access are matched with elementary school children from throughout Dane County. The Buddies correspond with regular e-mail messages throughout the school year. Over the course of the school year, the Buddies develop wonderful friendships while learning about another generation. Volunteers use a home computer or one available at a local senior center or library.

Reading Buddies Program: The AmeriCorps Schools of Hope Project welcomes RSVP volunteers to support literacy in several Madison neighborhood centers after school and in the summer. The program serves students in pre-kindergarten through 5^th grade.
